This page is a (probably not up-to-date) showcase of Super Mario World hacks I've made or contributed to.
This was my first ever venture into SMW hacking. It is a chocolate Kaizo hack with "vanilla+" aesthetics, and aims to be a fun experience for novice kaizo players and not be too difficult. Originally released in 2020, I made an update in 2022 to polish it up and fix my newbie hacker errors.
SMW Central Page →This is a single-screen challenge hack I made over the course of a few weeks which takes a lot of inspiration from Kaizo:Hard and Pit hacks, hence the name, and uses a glitch tech, really tight (and rude) setups and some item abuse.
SMW Central Page →I made a sequel for some reason. The sprinkling of glitch or kuso tech rooms was really the most interesting part of the first one so I leaned into it for the second. Lots of inspiration from MST and abc_ore, among others.
SMW Central Page →Full Playthrough →This was the first race level I made for Romhack Races, it features an improved implementation of a radiation gimmick dtothefourth made for me that I use in a level from HYPERION.
DownloadWatch Video →An ode to cement block aesthetics. In the level, you find a helper cement block that can be carried and thrown and stuck to walls to help get you through to the end.
DownloadWatch Video →A level I made in an afternoon. I wanted to make using the Switch Palace tileset since it's very limiting and as I assumed (rightly) it would be overlooked in the contest it's so barebones.
DownloadWatch Video →The title (and a concept later in the level) is a nod to the standard hack Memorial Service Tempest from MST in the Japanese community.
DownloadWatch Video →A harder kaizo that focused on trick execution over gimmicks or chocolate. Made as an homage to Casio Mario World and other levels by Wyatt.
DownloadWatch Video →A kaizo level with a silly tone using some cheeky asm I had made for non-kaizo purposes (being vague here as to not spoil the gimmick).
DownloadWatch Video →The gimmick in this kaizo level involves using L/R to steal Mario's power to the item box for use later.
DownloadWatch Video →An old-school style level that tried to emulate the style of kaizo you'd find in the early 2010s, as an antidote to the modern style of many race levels
DownloadWatch Video →Here I used the BLDC2 baserom to build out the idea of having a surprise sprite in a Pot that will help you complete obstacles.
DownloadWatch Video →When Mario has P-Speed he is invincible but we have some custom blocks that can be broken and the level is designed around keeping P-Speed.
A collaboration with Alex.
In this one Mario can't be outside of a sprite's hitbox for too long lest he die.
A collaboration with underway.
Something I made the day before submissions closed. Just an autoscroller.
DownloadWatch Video →The gimmick of this one is Mario has autorun enabled which means if you hold run Mario now slows down—the functionality of the X and Y buttons are inverted.
DownloadWatch Video →This was a spontaneous collab I organized during Winter C3 2022. Each contributor made a single screen in each of the levels and the results were pretty wild.
SMW Central Page →A JUMP Team collaboration hack made over 6 days during Summer C3 2023 in 1 hour design sessions.
SMW Central Page →A Kaizo hack I am not actively working on this project so who knows if it'll ever be released. It was planned to be more difficult and ambitious than my other ventures with old-school and standard very-hard influences.
